When
Treatment with laser light is a relatively new and gentle treatment method in dentistry in a wide variety of areas. For example, we can use it to kill bacteria efficiently and without mechanical action during periodontal treatment and thus decontaminate the soiled root surface. In addition, gums can be modeled with laser light and removed very finely, which offers advantages in certain surgical treatments such as cosmetic gum reductions for visually short-looking teeth or gummy smile.
How
As with any other treatment, the patient is usually given a local anesthetic. Then the procedure can be performed painlessly and without unpleasant noises. Since the laser light closes blood vessels directly, the interventions are usually also bleeding-free and are therefore particularly suitable for patients with anti-coagulant medication, as there are few or no postoperative complications.
