GENERAL ANAESTHESIA

Treatment while you sleep

When

For very long procedures or for patients with pronounced fear of dentists, an operation under general anesthesia can be a good alternative.

How

With general anesthesia (also called general anesthesia), the patient sleeps during the entire procedure and only wakes up after the operation has been successfully completed.

For general anesthesia, we work together with our experienced anesthesia team, which performs the anesthesia in the surgery rooms provided in our practice.

In order to ensure that the process is as smooth as possible, the anesthetist will have a preliminary anesthetic talk with you before the day of the operation so that any clarifications can be carried out in advance. This conversation generally lasts only 30 minutes and serves to determine possible anesthetic risks due to illnesses, genetic factors or medication that is taken regularly.

If nothing stands in the way of general anesthesia, our reception team will accompany you through to your anesthetic day.

On the day of the operation, you can rest in our recovery room after the procedure and sleep in until you feel fit again.

costs

The costs for general anesthesia are based primarily on the time required for the planned procedure.

General anesthesia is billed according to time. It is basically beautiful from CHF 950 possible. In the case of non-urgent, relatively short interventions, we can partly do one Day of anesthesia on which several patients are operated under anesthesia offer even cheaper tariffs.

Dental treatment under general anesthesia

Fear of the dentist can lead to the fact that visits to the dentist are neglected, diseases can progress over a long period of time and thus cause great damage. Many people don't like going to the dentist. For some, this queasy feeling in the stomach even turns into a downright panic.

For patients who are afraid of dentists, we offer special treatment concepts that are designed to make the treatment more pleasant. The most important thing is a trusting relationship between you and your dentist, extensive discussions and holistic support.

If the fear of the dentist is very pronounced, however, such fear-relieving discussions alone are often not enough. In this case we offer treatment under general anesthesia. This can be particularly helpful when it comes to major interventions.

Other alternatives to make visiting the dentist easier for those with dental anxiety are Nitrous oxide or hypnosis.

We also use general anesthesia on request for patients who do not suffer from fear of dentists if major surgical interventions have to be carried out.

Such interventions include, for example, the removal of several wisdom teeth or the insertion of several implants with simultaneous bone grafting.

Under certain circumstances we can also place fillings or crowns under general anesthesia. Since these treatments often take a very long time, the costs can be very high. For the success of the treatment, it is also advantageous if Soe can be addressed during the implementation. The height of a filling or crown can be checked by biting into it.
Also at ROOTCANAL TREATMENTS, or GUM TREATMENTS Methods such as nitrous oxide or other calming agents are preferable to general anesthesia.

Risks

The risks of general anesthesia are very low thanks to medical advances in anesthetic medicine over the past few decades. Nevertheless, we only use general anesthesia when there really is no other option. Mood disorders that may exist immediately after the treatment usually pass quickly. These include nausea, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, venous irritation and bruising.
During the preparatory talk with the dentist, you should talk about any worries and fears in order to avoid unnecessary stress before the procedure.
